Kennedy & Kennedy-Era Oversized Photos, 4 Pcs Total Including Cecil Stoughton

A suite of four vintage oversized photographic prints related to 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) and his administration. N.d., n.p. All of photos and/or mats are pencil inscribed by a former collector verso, occasionally containing incorrect information. Individual condition issues are itemized below but the overall condition is very good to near fine. The photos, smallest to largest, measure: 11" x 13.875" (1); 14" x 17" (1); and 15.785" x 20" (2).

The photos include:

1. A black and white matte photographic print showing President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy (1929-1994) ascending the staircase at the Quai d'Orsay after having enjoyed a state dinner with French President Charles de Gaulle at the Élysée Palace in Paris, France on May 31, 1961. Expected surface wear including several wrinkles. Else near fine. 11" x 13.875."

2. A colorized and enhanced matte photographic print after Fabian Bachrach's 1960 portrait of Kennedy seated at the Senate Office Building. Expected wear including isolated edge chips and minor superficial scuffs. Old masking tape remnants found verso, else near fine. Mounted at the center of a mat measuring 14" x 17."

3. A color matte photographic print showing a view towards the North Portico of the White House as viewed from Lafayette Square under the shadow of Clark Mills' equestrian sculpture of Andrew Jackson. Expected wear including mounting traces verso, else near fine. Mounted at the center of a mat measuring 15.785" x 20."

4. A color glossy photograph showing the South Portico of the White House attributed to Cecil Stoughton. Hand-stamped "Cecil Stoughton / The White House" and "Reproduced by / U.S. Army Photographic Agency / Washington 25, D.C." on the cardboard verso. Expected wear including isolated smudges and discolored spots to the mat, else very good to near fine. Mounted at the center of a mat measuring 15.785" x 20."

Cecil W. Stoughton (1920-2008) served as a White House photographer during the Kennedy administration.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
