Photograph and admission ticket from the 1999 Impeachment Trial of President Bill Clinton. The color glossy photograph measures 4.5” x 6.5”, Washington, dated February 11, 1999. Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist is dressed in gold banded judicial robes standing in front of a table in the Senate’s Presidential Suite. Photographed by Franz Jantzen, Supreme Court Collections Manager, during the Senate Impeachment hearings. Below the photograph, Rehnquist has signed on the mat, "For Ed Turner – Wm. H. Rehnquist.” Matted and framed with a yellow admissions ticket from the U.S. Senate Impeachment Trial that convened during the first session of the 106th Congress. It is stamped “Feb 08 1999” and affixed below. The entire display measures 10" x 14.5" overall. In fine condition, with a bold signature.

William H. Rehnquist (1924-2005) served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1972-1986, and then as the 16th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 1986 until his death. Rehnquist leaned towards conservativism, although he was also known as the “Lone Ranger” because he often adopted his own course. As Chief Justice, William Rehnquist presided over the Senate portion of Impeachment proceedings against sitting president Bill Clinton from January 7 to February 12, 1999. Clinton, who was involved in sex scandal involving a White House intern, was accused of obstruction of justice and perjury. The admissions ticket is dated from the last open day of the trial before the Senate began private deliberations; the photograph was taken one day before the Senate reached its vote of not guilty on either charge. Rehnquist presented this keepsake to Ed Turner, a spokesman of the Supreme Court.
