Teddy Roosevelt 2 Printed Free Franks as Vice President on "The Vice President's Chamber" Envelopes

Two envelopes, each embossed "The Vice President's Chamber / Washington, D.C." at the return address, each featuring the PRINTED facsimile free frank of then Vice President Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919) in the postage section.

The lot is comprised of:

1. An envelope postmarked March 13, 1901 from Washington, D.C., addressed in type to "Hon. Chauncey M. Depew, / Senate Chamber, / Washington, D.C." Bearing additional philatelic markings verso. Expected weathering, and neatly letter-opened at top.

Chauncey M. Depew (1834-1928) served as a U.S. Senator from New York between 1899-1911.

2. An envelope postmarked June 8, 1901 from Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, addressed in a secretarial hand to "Y. Saunlet / 2465 Welton St / Denver / Colo." Additional hand-stamps and cancellation marks verso. With a minor water or adhesive stain at left, and with mounting traces verso, letter-opened at top, else very good. 6" x 3.5."

On September 6th, 1901, 25th U.S. President William McKinley was shot at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York and he died of blood poisoning eight days later. Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as 26th U.S. President on September 14th. He would serve until 1909.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
