Description:

Steve Swetonic Circa 1933 Pittsburgh Pirates Game Worn Uniform!

This heavy wool jersey was worn by Steve Swetonic circa 1933. "PIRATES" appears across the front in red-on-blue felt, a style that originated during the 1933 season. The number "40" is on the back in blue felt and is quite worn with some pieces around the edges of the numbers missing. His last name is sewn into the collar, along with a Spalding tag. The piping around the neck and sleeves shows lots of use and is missing in some areas. Few buttons remain on the front of the jersey, but these could be replaced if so desired by the new owner. The lot includes pants that are from a few years later than 1933. There is a Spalding tag inside the waistband along with "Johnson" sewn in. In all, the tremendous vintage uniform is in nice condition with the only true flaw being a broken button on the fly.

This item sold at Leland's Auctions in 2016 for $3,766.10!
