The RMS Titanic was the largest passenger steamship in the world when she set off on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City on April 10, 1912, with 2,223 people on board. Four days into the crossing, the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank at 2:20 the following morning, resulting in the deaths of 1,517 people. Among the survivors was nine-week-old Millvina Dean, who had been placed aboard Lifeboat 10 along with her mother and brother. Millvina was also the last living survivor of the Titanic, passing away on May 31, 2009, at the age of 97.
