Rare Italian John F. Kennedy Assassination Broadside: "Hanno trucidato Kennedy!"

An unusual Italian-language broadside decrying the assassination of 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) and rallying Italian students to eradicate similar threats posed by Communists. The broadside was printed in Milan, Italy and distributed by the A.S.A.N., or Associazione Studentesca di Azione Nationale [Student Association of National Action] and the Giovane Italia [Young Italy], a neo-fascist student organization. Undated but presumably posted shortly after Kennedy's assassination. Gentle overall toning. A faint tread mark impression is found at bottom (was it ridden over by a bicycle after falling off the alley wall?) Light expected paper folds. Else very good to near fine. 6.875" x 9.875." Provenance: From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.

President Kennedy was shot and killed in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. The principal suspect, Lee Harvey Oswald (1939-1963), was a disaffected ex-Marine who self-identified as a Communist and had defected to the Soviet Union in October 1959. Upon his return to the United States in June 1962, Oswald became involved with the Fair Play for Cuba organization, which supported Fidel Castro's Communist leadership. Thus, we see that, since Oswald was a Communist, the A.S.A.N. and Young Italy viewed Kennedy's assassination as an act of Communist aggression.

Communist criminalism has shown
its true face, the Communist barbarity
has returned to shine.

Once again, an anonymous Marxist murder has been struck!

Communism has shown its standard:
death, violence, dishonesty.

Communism is among us, let's eradicate it while we still have time.

Today they have struck Kennedy, tomorrow they will strike all free men.

Young Italy
Venice Way, 44 - Milan."

This iteration of the Young Italy movement was established in 1954 in Rome; it merged with the Youth Front in 1971. Its neo-fascist members often clashed with activists from the left.
