Original signed photos of Albert Einstein are exceedingly scarce, with this one being a particularly great artistic portrayal of him. We have seen a prominent rare book and art firm offer a similarly presented signed photo of Einstein for upwards of $18,000. Albert Einstein developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics (alongside quantum mechanics). Einstein's work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. Einstein is best known in popular culture for his mass–energy equivalence formula E = mc2 (which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation"). He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics for his "services to theoretical physics", in particular his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect, a pivotal step in the evolution of quantum theory (David Bodanis). During the era of this photo, Einstein had been working on a piece which was published in Dialectica, 2, issue 3-4, pp.320-324 (1948) on Quantum Mechanics and Reality. An iconic photograph of Einstein, rare and desirable signed.
