Mrs. Martin Luther King Jr, Rare 1959 First Baptist Church Program Featuring Coretta Scott King

Soft-wrap Program Brochure, 8.75" x 11.25", titled "First Baptist Church Ninety-Fourth Anniversary Celebration". Dated "April 1959" and held at the First Baptist Church in Nashville TN. Among the guest listed is "Coretta Scott King" (Mrs. Martin Luther king, Jr.), who is described as a "soprano" in her biography in addition to her other achievements. Near fine condition.

During the year prior to this celebration, Martin Luther King completed his first book and was nearly killed when he was stabbed. On February 3, 1959, King, his wife Coretta Scott King, and his MIA colleague Lawrence Reddick, departed for a five-week tour in India begining with a visit as the guests of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. From there, they traveled the country to study Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of nonviolence and to pay homage at his shrine. On November 29, 1959, the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., preached his final sermon as pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, resigning to devote more time to the civil rights movement. Following his resignation, he moved to Atlanta to direct the activities of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference).

We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
