Literary Archive From Notable 20th Century Authors, Historians, & More!

A group of 7 signed items from literary notables. Varying conditions, with minor folds, toning, and soiling present throughout. Please see below and the accompanying photos for further information. The lot includes:

1.) Liam O'Flaherty signed clip, 1.75" x 8.75", n.d., n.p. Signed by Irish novelist and founding member of the Irish Community Party Liam O'Flaherty, who often wrote from the perspective of the common worker, detailing their experiences.

2.) Erskine Caldwell signed envelope, 3.6" x 9.25", January 26, 1977, San Francisco, CA. Caldwell was an American novelist and short story writer, most known for his writings about racism and poverty in the south.

3.) Bruce Cattan TLS, 7.25" x 10.5", January 21, 1963, New York, NY. Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Cattan is most remembered for his work on the American Civil War titled A Stillness at Appomattox (1954). Written on letterhead from the American Heritage Publishing Co.

4.) Samuel E. Morison signature, 5.25" x 8", n.d., Boston, MA. Morison was an American historian with a specialty in maritime history as well as a three-time Pulitzer Prize winner. Written on personal letterhead from his home in Boston.

5.) Butterfly McQueen signed Christmas card, 5.75" x 9.75" (opened), December 25, n.p. McQueen was an American actress, with her first role being in the 1939 film adaptation of Gone With the Wind as "Prissy".

6.) Ian Douglas Smith signed card & TLS, 8.25" x 9.75", December 15, 1992, Harare, Zimbabwe. Smith served as the 8th Prime Minister of Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) between 1964-1979.

7.) George Arliss TLS, 6.5" x 9", October 25, 1932, Burbank, CA. Arliss was a British actor and author who had a successful career in American cinema, being the first English actor to win an Academy Award.

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.

Third Party Shipping Option: If a third party shipper is preferred, the buyer is responsible for contacting them directly to make shipping arrangements. For your convenience, we have provided some recommended shippers.
