Lincoln Assassination Archive (3): Diary, Southern Sympathy Letter, & Memorial

A small archive of three items relating to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The collection consists of; a letter from a southern sympathizer dated one day after Lincoln's death, an 1865 Diary mentioning the assassination, and a memorial sheet printed to replicate a Ford's Theatre playbill for "Our American Cousin". The letter has flattened mail folds, while the diary has expected wear, toning, and soiling from use. Light wear and toning to the memorial sheet. Please refer to the photographs for further condition information.

Includes:
1. Autograph Letter Signed "M. Marsh", Chester, Virginia, dated April 16, 1865. Marsh writes to his friend Webster about the celebration of Lincoln's death. In part: "…People are very excited from hearing that Old Abe is killed we don't know certain yet…"
2. 1865 Diary Belonging to Timothy Salmon Granby, n.p., dated 1865. Filled with entries of purchases and sales made, mostly business, as well as news and weather reports. With a few loose newspaper clippings. Highlighted entries:
April 10 - Celebration of the surrender of Rebel General R.E. Lee & his Army to Genl. Grant.
April 14 - President Lincoln Assassinated today with a ball through the head also Sec. Seward & son stabbed.
April 16 - Attended Church today sermon preached by Rev E. Lord on the death of President Lincoln from 146 Psalm."
3. Ford's Theatre Memorial Sheet. A replication of a playbill for "Our American Cousin" advertising that "This Evening the performance will be honored by the presence of President Lincoln."

Unless otherwise indicated, we do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
