J. Edgar Hoover TLS on Official FBI Stationary & Vintage Photo from Winchell Collection

1p 7.125" x 9.5” TLS signed by J. Edgar Hoover (1895-1972), then Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as "J. Edgar Hoover" in blue felt-tip pen near bottom. Written in Washington, D.C. on February 14, 1969. On Hoover's personal "Federal Bureau of Investigation / United States Department of Justice / Washington, D.C." letterhead.

The watermarked cream stationery is in near fine condition, with expected light paper folds and a few wrinkles.

Also comes with a vintage photo from the “Walter Winchell file”, as annotated on the verso of the photon pencil, of J. Edgar Hoover, syndicated American newspaper gossip columnist and radio news commentator Walter Winchell, and the second-ranking official of the FBI from 1930 until 1972, Clyde Tolson.

The letter reads:

“Dear Mr. Harriss:
Thank you for your letter of February 7th. It was certainly kind of you to comment as you did regarding the recent appearance of Mr. Bishop before the Round Table at the Four Arts on February 3rd. I am pleased that his presentation was so well received and you may be sure he will appreciate, as I do, your generous remarks.
Sincerely yours,
J. Edgar Hoover”

John Edgar Hoover was an American law enforcement administrator who served as the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
