Fernando Krahn (1935-2010) was a Chilean cartoonist whose work has been published in "Esquire", "The New Yorker", "The Atlantic", and "The Reporter". He fled Chile in 1973 after the Chilean coup d'état and moved to Spain. There, he contributed to newspapers and authored and illustrated over 40 children's books published in Spain, Chile, Venezuela, and the U.S. Highlights include:

1. Signed Copy of "The Furious Flycycle". New York: Delacorte Press, 1968. Signed on the dedication page, "For good Jan's good brother. Fernando Krahn."

2. Signed Title Page of "The Furious Flycycle" by Jan Wahl. Framed to the overall size of 5.75" x 7.5".

3. "Los Insectos" by Fernando Krahn. 12 prints, numbered 63/150 and signed "F Krahn 68". With a typed letter signed, dated December 20, 1968, discussing a successful exhibition.

4. Original Pen and Ink illustration titled "Professor Mickimecki Comes to Town". From "The Furious Flycycle", 1968.

5. Nine Letters to Jan Wahl, dated December 28, 1966 to November 25, 1971.
December 28, 1966: "…I am nervous because this is the first time I'll work for somebody else's idea but, as probably Sam told you, I feel very comfortable with your character and the whole story…Fernando Krahn."
March 28, 1968: "When are you coming back from the prairies? We hope you are having special attention at home and that this would help in adding a new year in your life full of brilliant ideas and an excess of [illegible]. It's about time for us to get rich (and famous), don’t you think so? Probably Flycycle will be the beginning…" With a drawing entitled "The NEW Emma Dudd".
November 12, 1968: "My honest condolences for your new President. How sad for the whole world. Probably Humphrey would have been the same. We lament he does not even look like an attractive devil, not even like a poor devil. Let's hope you don't start the Revolution with celluloid bombs; remember we haven't seen yet your latest Keaton jewel!..."

6. Norman Rockwell Signed Typed Letter and Book. Letter dated March 10, 1969, from Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Addressed to Jan Wahl, "I was delighted with your two stories to go with those pictures of mine. Keep up the good work. I am very pleased that they have picked such a talented person…Norman Rockwell." Framed to 9" x 10.75". Along with a signed copy of "The Norman Rockwell Storybook" by Jan Wahl. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1969. Signed on the half title page, "Warm wishes Jan Wahl", with a cartoon portrait.

The letters have flattened mail folds, light soiling, and some adhesive residue. Many have retained their original envelopes, with expected wear. Rubbing and chipping to the book dust jacket. Areas of toning to the illustrated artwork.
