Consignor's Balance Dealer's Lot from Jan Wahl's Estate (Group of 10)

A fantastic group of ten items, dating from the 1860s to the 1960s, related to Rose Pelswick and children's literature. Consisting of books, letters, photographs, and artwork. With mail folds to letters, missing some paper along the right edge of one. Wear and bumping to the book edges and corners, as well as scratching to covers. Toning and soiling to edges of the artwork. Overall very good. The group includes the following:

1. Autograph Letter Signed. 1p, measuring 5.5" x 6", Boston, dated March 13, 1962. Addressed to Rose Pelswick from actor Forrest Tucker, thanking her for a recently published column she wrote about him.
2. Typed Letter Signed. 1p, measuring 6.75" x 9", Buckinghamshire, undated. Addressed to Rose from Dirk Bogarde, thanking her for accompanying him to a Critic's Lunch.
3. Typed Letter Signed. 1p, measuring 7" x 10.5", Pacific Palisades, California, dated September 25, 1963. Addressed to Rose from Cliff Robinson, thanking her on behalf of himself and the crew of the "PT-109".
4. Artwork with Printed Signature. Measuring 5.75" x 3.75", matted to the overall size of 9.75" x 7.75", No place, dated Ca. 1960. Titled "Lantern Fest" by Paul Klee, a postcard invitation for the annual Lantern Party.
5. Charles Baudelaire Photograph. Measuring 8" x 10", No place, dated Ca. 1869. Photographed by Etienne Carjet. Matted with a gold border.
6. Framed Artwork. Measuring 8.75" x 6.5" (sight), framed to the overall size of 10.25" x 8", Berlin, dated Ca. 1928. Titled "The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle" by Lotte Reiniger.
7. Artwork with Printed Signature. Measuring 11.25" x 8.5", matted to the overall size of 14.75" x 11.75", No place, undated. Titled "das unregelmassige" by Paul Klee, a human-like figure laying horizontally across the page.
8. Hand-Colored Artwork. Measuring 6.5" x 9.75", mounted to the overall size of 12" x 15", No place, undated. Untitled and no listed artist, a colored sketch of an elderly person.

Rose Pelswick (1900-1981), born Rose Pelzweig, was born in Slovakia and became a movie critic for the "New York Journal-American" and the "Evening Journal" and hosted several radio movie club programs on WHN and WPAP. Pelswick also wrote a number of stories under the pseudonym F.G. Parke.

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice. If any changes to the shipping address need to be made, you must inform us immediately.***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
