Civil War Archive Including U.S. Grant Cabinet Card from Mt. McGregor Taken About 1 Month Before His Death

This Civil War archive of photos and prints is comprised of 15 pieces, and includes:

1. A cabinet card entitled "Gen. U.S. Grant and Family at Mount McGregor, N.Y., June 19, 1885" depicting Civil War hero and 18th U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) seated on the front porch of his summer cottage at Mount McGregor, New York. Grant died of throat cancer about one month later, on July 23, 1885, just a few days after completing his autobiography, "The Personal Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant." With a heavily bent lower right corner. Toned with isolated flyspecking and darkened edges. Pencil inscribed verso. Else good. 6.5" x 4.25."

2. A cabinet card of Civil War veteran and 23rd U.S. President Benjamin Harrison (1833-1901), ca. 1889-1893, produced and distributed by the London Stereoscopic & Photographic Co., Ltd. With an elaborate advertisement for Victorian cure-all Beecham's Pills verso. Minor crazing especially to the photo bottom and isolated imperfections, else very good to near fine. 4.125" x 6.5."

3. A carte de visite-sized print of Confederate General Robert E. Lee (1807-1870) as a young officer. Expected wear. 2.625" x 3.875."

4. - 15. A set of 12 W. Boell (New York, New York) lithographs, each measuring 11.125" x 9.25," depicting groups in a military procession. Including:

- "General Hancock and Staff"
- "Grand Army of the Republic Staff"
- "U.S. Marines"
- "Battery - U.S. 5th Artillery"
- "2d Connecticut Regiment"
- "7th Regiment, N.G.S.N.Y." (National Guard for the State of New York)
- "13th Regiment, N.G.S.N.Y."
- "14th Regiment, N.G.S.N.Y."
- "23d Regiment, N.G.S.N.Y."

We do our own in-house worldwide shipping!

Applicable shipping and handling charges will be added to the invoice. We offer several shipping options, and remain one of the few auction houses who proudly provides professional in-house shipping as an option to our clients. All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
