Accompanied by a First Day Cover of John Kennedy, postmarked "Boston, May 29, 1964", and signed by both his brother "Robert Kennedy", and his sister "Eunice Kennedy Shriver". Fine condition. From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.

A somewhat sarcastic letter from the Cardinal regarding a CBS documentary that presented him in a manner he felt was "a mountain in labor producing a mouse". The Cardinal reflected on the preparations for the program noting, "...the representative followed me around for three weeks and they took thousands of feet of film, including engagements that I had during that period. My impression of the documentary was that of a mountain of labor producing a mouse." The letter is dated only 2 weeks after the assassination of Robert Kennedy.

Cushing was a long-time friend of the Kennedy family, baptizing many of the Kennedy children and helping presidential candidate John F. Kennedy deflect fears of papal interference in American government if a Catholic became president. He officiated at the marriage of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Lee Bouvier in 1953, where he also read a special prayer from Pope Pius XII. Cushing gave the prayer invocation at Kennedy's inauguration in 1961 and the day before JFK's funeral, he gave a televised eulogy for the President. Cardinal Cushing eventually resigned after defending Jaqueline's marriage to Onassis.
