Boldly signed by Bob Dylan in heavy black felt tip in full signature "Bob Dylan" with faint hint of rubbing to the letter "B". Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity by Jeff Rosen, President of the Bob Dylan Music Company, who states "I represent Bob Dylan and have done so for many years. In 2017 he signed a number of individual albums on a rare and limited basis, including the album photographed here. I can say for certain that it is Bob Dylan's signature. The chain of custody is directly from Bob Dylan to myself."

Dylan's title track, "The Times They Are a-Changin'" was composed by Dylan with a deliberate attempt to create an anthem of change for the time, influenced by Irish and Scottish ballads. Dylan wrote the song in the fall of 1963, shortly after Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington, wanting to create a song for social justice. Dylan believed folk music and the Civil Rights movement were natural allies and he felt he could make a contribution to the movement by writing a powerful, "hypnotic" anthem. The song took on a life of its own, earning Dylan a Nobel Prize in Literature. (The Nobel Committee wrote: "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.") Today, this one song is considered one of the greatest songs ever written, its powerful lyrics have transcended the political turbulence of the 1960s that gave birth to them to inspire subsequent generations, revealing their timelessness in the human experience. In recent years, Dylan has shied away from playing his masterpiece in concert which has imbued it with an almost mythical quality. Dozens of major recording artists have covered the song through the years, including Simon & Garfunkel, Peter Paul & Mary, The Beach Boys, Nina Simone, Billy Joel, Joan Baez, Tracy Chapman, Bryan Ferry and Bruce Springsteen to name a few. The balance of the album consists mostly of stark, sparsely arranged ballads concerning issues such as racism, poverty and social change.

An outstanding signed album featuring one of Dylan's signature songs and includes an important Letter of Authenticity. The title song not only memorialized the massive social change of the era, but also all the forthcoming social movements to come. And so, 50 years after Dylan wrote it, "The Times They Are a-Changin'" vibrates with new meaning. Perhaps that's because the song itself doesn't look to the past — rather, it's an anthem of hope for a future where change is always possible.

"The Times They Are-A-Changin'

Come gather around people wherever you roam

And admit that the waters around you have grown

And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone

If your time to you is worth saving

Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone

For the times they are-a-changing

Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen

And keep your eyes wide the chance won't come again

And don't speak too soon for the wheel's still in spin

And there's no telling who that it's naming

For the loser now will be later to win

For the times they are-a-changing

Come senators congressmen please heed the call

Don't stand in the doorway don't block up the hall

He that gets hurt will be he who has stalled

There's a battle outside and it's raging

It'll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls

For the times they are-a-changin'

Come mothers and fathers throughout the land

And don't criticize what you can't understand

Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command

Your old road is rapidly aging

Get out of the new one if you can't lend a hand

For the times they are-a-changin'

The line it is drawn the curse it is cast

The slow one now will later be fast

As the present now will later be past

The order is rapidly fading

And the first one now will later be last

For the times they are-a-changin'"

By the time the album was released on January 13, 1964, Dylan was already entering a new phase in his career, pulling further away from his popular image as a protest singer.
