Description:

Beat Poet Gregory Corso Signed "Godfather III" Script Plus Bonus Drawings

Typed manuscript signed, 6pp, measuring 8.25" x 11.5", no place, ca. 1990. A six-page typed script from a scene in Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather Part III, signed and twice inscribed by poet Gregory Corso who appears in the movie as the small role of "Unruly Stockholder 2". His handwritten notations can be found in two places- the first instance appears on page one, reading "My part in Godfather III/ I never owned a stock in my life!/ Corso"; the second instance is shown on page four, reading "My part in Godfather III/ I added my own lines-' like look at him he's [got] the map of Sicily on his on his face-'." Includes a bonus page featuring handwritten Chinese characters and signed "Gregory Corso/ 1984" at lower right corner. Moderate wear, including heavy creasing in areas, darkened toning, varying degrees of tearing, and uneven margins throughout (not affecting Corso's writing). Good to fair overall with fantastic inscriptions.

Gregory Nunzio Corso (1930-2001) was a notable American poet and youngest member of the Beat Generation's inner circle. In his youth, Corso would serve time at Clinton State Prison in Dannemora, New York, where he gained the protection of powerful Mafioso inmates. He later met Allen Ginsburg upon his release in 1951, who immediately recognized his talent as a writer. His first volume of poetry, The Vestal Lady on Brattle (1955), would become the second work of Beat literature to be published, the first being Jack Kerouac's The Town and the City (1950).
