Apollo Astronauts

Apollo Space Program Badges, Set of 11, Representing Apollo VII-Apollo XVII Missions, From Early African-American NASA Employee

An incredible display of space memorabilia! Featuring 11 Apollo mission patches, from Apollo VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII, XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, XVII, along with three NASA insignia and an American flag, all mounted on board and just awaiting your choice of frame for instant display! From the collection of Elton Stepherson, one of the earliest African-American employees of NASA.

The bright and colorful assemblage of embroidered emblems are in near fine condition, with a few stray loose threads. The badges are mostly circular, with an average size of 4" in diameter. The mount has a few isolated areas of roughness near the top NASA badge that are barely noticeable. Minor edge darkening of the mount, else near fine. 24" x 20".

The badges represent the entirety of the Apollo Space Program, with the exception of the ill-fated 1967 Apollo I Mission. The 11 subsequent missions, undertaken between 1968-1972, broke many records and accomplished as many firsts.

The official mission insignia incorporate the names of their astronaut crews, and use imaginative, sometimes even mythological, imagery to symbolize their mission objectives.
