  2. A typed letter from Torino, Italy dated "Turin January 24, 1992"

A fascinating letter written by Ginsberg to the Kerouac estate, informing them that Dottor Giorgio Villosio in Italy has composed a blues opera, setting to music some lyrics of Jack Kerouac, mentioning "As you know, he wrote the collection "Mexico City Blues" intending to get it set to music and that is just what we have done …". Villosio had reached out to Ginsberg both to inform him of this, but also to ask him to "spread" this news as Ginsberg is "the spokesman of the beat generation".

In kind, Allen forwarded this memo to the Kerouac estate with his card, shown in full below:

"Dear Kerouac Family & Sampas Family

I got this note in Italy and am sending it on to you.

Good luck with the publication of further music by Jack -

Allen Ginsberg"

Provenance: The piece will be accompanied by an estate certification signed by John Shen-Sampas, executor of the Kerouac Estate. John Shen-Sampas is the son of John Sampas, who was the brother-in-law of Jack Kerouac, and the brother of Stella Kerouac, Jack's wife.
