Produced by the Veterans of the National Guard, Headquarters Seventh Regiment Armory. Printed by Francis & Loutrel, Printers of New York. Reads in part: "The national joy has been suddenly turned to mourning! Exuberant congratulations at the brilliant victories of the Union armies have given place to the lamentations of grief and sadness…ABRAHAM LINCOLN, President of the United States, IS DEAD!..."
Accompanied by four related postcards, two blank and two used, memorializing Lincoln. With images of Lincoln's Funeral Car, Ford's Theater and the house Lincoln died in, Lincoln's entry into Richmond, VA, and the reward poster for John Wilkes Booth. Flattened folds and light edge toning to the printing. Adhesive residue on verso along the top edge. Expected wear to the postcards.
