A warm and humorous letter written to Vincent Seligman, a close family friend, and one of whom Milne would maintain close connections to for his entire life. The letter pokes fun at his wife, Daff, but also laments on the retiring of his peers. He was known for often comparing himself to other authors, and playwrights, never finding himself good enough.

The letter in full:

"My dear Vincent,

The watches were a very happy surprise. I couldn't think what: and all Daff could say (foolishly) was "golf balls". She was probably thinking of ..... Thank you so much: I feel certainly grand.

We had a heavenly lunch -... (after Saturday/and I hope you did too. Just off to Lee-million as (illegible) calls it.

Yours

A.A.M

The best people are retiring in about 2 years time, and (illegible) to the country ..."
