Unusual JF Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy Souvenir and Promotional Items
A fascinating group relating to the high life and promotional elements of the Kennedy presidency. As the youngest president elected, with his fashion icon wife, John F. Kennedy was a new phenomenon in U.S. politics. Many were keen to capitalize on the public's interest in the young couple, as seen with the lots in this group. Air Force One 2-Pack of Playing Cards. Teal velvet box measures 5" x 3.75", no place, no date. With a gilt Presidential Seal stamped on the front. Inside are two, unopened packs of playing cards, one dark blue the other light blue, reading "Welcome Aboard." Light wear to the box.
John F. Kennedy Gold Charm. Measuring 0.375" x 1.125", no place, no date. A bust portrait of Kennedy, with no makers mark. Very fine.
Jackie O. Perfume. The box measures 2.25" x 2.5" while the small bottle inside measures 0.75" x 1", Paris, no date. The perfume sample was marketed as not only Jackie's signature scent, but also the "World's most expensive perfume". Released after her marriage to Aristotle Onassis and distributed by Niresk Importers. A small silver bottle in a black velvet case. Accompanied by a re-order coupon, with the full bottle retailing for $195. Light wear to box.
AΣ Gold Skull Pin. Measuring 0.375" x 0.5", no place, circa 1910. A small Alpha Sigma fraternity pin, with red ruby eyes. On verso is engraved "S.P. Wilde 1910." Fine condition.
