Description:

Sirhan Sirhan Super Rare Assassin Signed Document

A document signed by Sirhan B. Sirhan (born 1944), the assassin of politician Robert F. Kennedy, as "Sirhan Sirhan B." at lower right. Scattered spotting recto and verso consistent with past exposure to moisture, else very good. 7.125" x 4.125." Accompanied by an embossed Certificate of Authenticity signed by Universal Autograph Collectors' Club member Erik L. Dorr testifying that this Sirhan Sirhan signed document was once part of the Robert L. White Museum Collection. Provenance: From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist; Ex-Robert L. White Museum Collection.

The typed half-sheet entitled "Sirhan Declaration" at top reads: "I, Sirhan Sirhan, verify that I have authorized Luke McKissack, Esq., to present this Petition in my behalf and acknowledge that, to the best of my knowledge, I have been afforded access to all of the data I need in order for my attorney to prepare my appeal…"

Sirhan Sirhan fatally shot aspiring Democratic Party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy (1925-1968) and also wounded five others in the ballroom of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California on June 5, 1968; the younger brother of President John F. Kennedy and former U.S. Attorney General died of his injuries the next day. Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old mentally unstable Palestinian-born immigrant, condemned RFK's Middle Eastern policies. Convicted of murder, Sirhan Sirhan was originally sentenced to death, but this was commuted to life in prison in 1972.

Luke McKissack (1937-2010) was a noted defense and civil rights attorney whose clients included Sirhan Sirhan and Charles Manson (briefly) along with the Black Panthers and the American Indian Movement. McKissack became Sirhan Sirhan's chief defense attorney after 1969, and represented him for over 20 years through numerous appeals and requests for parole. This signed Petition probably represents one such unsuccessful legal motion.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
