1p, measuring 7.875" x 12.625", no place [possibly Nashville, Tennessee], dated October 22, 1824. Signed in full "Rachel Jackson" and "Andrew Jackson". On verso is a lengthy endorsement, dated December 11, 1875, by Stockley Donelson, who attests that he transfers "all of right title and interests in my fathers interest in the claim alluded to in the within paper." With flattened folds, separations at the folds have been repaired on verso is archival material. Another crease on has been reinforced on verso. The lower, blank right corner has paper loss, and has been repaired with additional paper. Uneven toning and soiling throughout. Mounting residue along the top edge on verso. Boldly signed by both. Ex-Sang Collection.

Documents signed by Rachel Jackson are very uncommon. She died suddenly in December 1828, from what Andrew Jackson believed to be the stress and negative backlash from the presidential campaign. Most of Rachel Jackson's letters were lost in a house fire in 1834, and fewer than 50 are known to still exist today. Only five letters have appeared at auction in the past 100 years, and documents with both of the couple's signature are even more rare.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
