Princess Grace & Prince Rainier III of Monaco, 4 Pcs to JFK Doctor

A small archive featuring multiple autographs of Monaco's former royal couple, Prince Rainier III (1923-2005) and Princess Grace née Kelly (1929-1982), presented to Dr. Janet G. Travell (1901-1997), President John F. Kennedy's personal physician between 1960-1963. Provenance: From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.

The lot is comprised of:

1. A 1p typed letter signed by Princess Grace as "Grace de Monaco" at center right. Written at the Palais de Monaco on November 18, 1970. On fancy "Palais de Monaco" letterhead featuring a red embossed crown at top. Docket stamped at upper right. Minor feathering to Princess Grace's signature, and expected light paper folds. Else near fine. 6.75" x 6.5."

Princess Grace wrote: "Dr. Travell, I appreciated very much your thoughtfulness and want to thank you for sending me the beautiful first-day covers which will be a valuable addition to my collection."

2. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope bearing Monacan postage and three hand-stamps, including one reading, "Service de S.A.S. la Princesse de Monaco."

3. A vintage black and white postcard showing "S.A.S. Rainier III / Prince souverain de Monaco" [trans: His Serene Highness Rainier III / Sovereign Prince of Monaco] in full regalia, likely printed soon after his coronation in 1949. It is signed "Rainier" across his hands at bottom. The postcard is blank verso. Near fine. 4" x 6."

4. An embossed "Palais de Monaco" card signed "Rainier Prince de Monaco" at center. The tail of "Monaco" is slightly feathered. Minor wrinkles at the bottom corners, and a paperclip impression at top (not rusted). Else near fine. 5.25" x 3.875."

Dr. Janet Travell served as the first female personal physician to President John F. Kennedy between 1960-1963. A specialist in alleviating muscle pain, Dr. Travell focused on reducing JFK's crippling and chronic back pain. Dr. Travell attended JFK's successor Lyndon B. Johnson until resigning from the White House in 1965.

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
