Montgomery Improvement Association 1965 "Rededication" Archive
A group of items related to the Montgomery Improvement Association, marking the 10th year anniversary of the organization. Includes two 10th anniversary programs, two yellow MIA ribbon badges, and two blank donation.
The two programs, 44pp., 8.5" x 11", are for the even held December 9-12, 1965 in Montgomery, Alabama. The theme of the meeting was "Not a Celebration, but a Rededication to the Unfinished Task." One of the programs is missing it's cover, but contains numerous emendations on page 23 where the program schedule for December 12 is printed. The program includes a "Looking Back" section that covers the organizations journey over the last ten years, and it also highlights members, patrons, and headlines that were important to the cause.
The two yellow ribbons, 3.75" x 6" each, December 5, 1965, have the MIA logo at the center, featuring the Freedom Flame that was lit in Montgomery, Alabama on December 5, 1955. Above it reads, "Not A Celebration-But a Rededication To The Unfinished Task." At the bottom of the ribbon badge is a quote from George Washington.
The two blank envelopes measure 5" x 3", and allow donors to fill out their name, address, and amount donated.
As mentioned above, one of the programs is missing it's cover, but is still soundly bound. One of the yellow ribbon badges has been pinned to the top right corner of this program. Both donation envelopes have been sealed closed.
