Max Baer 3 Humorous & Dynamic Signed and Inscribed Boxing Photographs

A group of three black and white images, all measuring approximately 7.5" x 9.5", of Max Baer, dating between 1951 and 1957. All are inscribed and signed to his friend, "Larry", Robert Cameron. Includes:

1. Comical Photo of Baer and George Gobel. Showing the two mismatched men squaring off behind the scenes of the 1958 film I Married a Woman. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen: "To my pal Larry - I still think I can beat this George Gobel. I got killed in this movie. Your life guard at the shallow end of your pool, Max Baer, 1957." Baer has also written the identity and weight below each man. Slightly trimmed borders. Minor corner bumping. Boldly signed.

2. Young Baer Posed in His Boxing Gear. A three-quarter length portrait of Baer, posed in the boxing ring with his gloves and protective headgear. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen: "Larry this is before we met in 1933. This was taken 1929 Oakland - I was a young one here - Your Pal, Max Baer, 1951." Trimmed borders and minor corner bumping. boldly signed.

3. Seated Boxing Ring Photo. Depicts Baer sitting in the corner of the ring, dressed in his training gear, with his manager Ancil Hoffman leaning over his shoulder. Signed and inscribed in fountain pen: "To Sir Robert Cameron. Here are your pals 'Pap' Hoffman and your Public Relations man in Honolulu 1938 - Your pal - Max Baer, 1957." Minor corner bumping. Ink is slightly faded.

Maximilian Adelbert "Max" Baer (1909-1959) was the World Heavyweight Champion from June 14, 1934-June 13, 1935. He retired from boxing in April 1941. Apart from his boxing career, Baer also had an acting career, appearing in almost twenty films. He tragically passed just two years after signing these photographs, following a massive heart attack at the age of 50. Robert Cameron was a championship Canadian rodeo rider, known by the nickname "Calgary Red."

We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
