Hair

Approximately 10 strands of Marilyn Monroe's blond curls, cut by celebrity stylist Robert Champion just before Monroe's famous May 19, 1962 birthday salute to President John F. Kennedy. The hair strands are housed in a plastic case measuring 2.5" x 1.875" and are mounted below Monroe's checks. Champion describes the event in Chapters 36 and 37 of his book He Made the Stars Shine. Provenance information includes photocopies of Champion's business card, salon receipt, and description of the event, along with an October 5, 2005 invoice from Willis Henry Auctions (Marshfield, Massachusetts.)

Brassiere

A brassiere from Monroe's professional wardrobe slated for auction at Christie's in 1999 before it was deemed too risqué for the clientele. The size 36D bra has cream silk wings, ruched cups decorated with machine-made lace, and velvet piping lining the underband. With adjustable elastic straps and seven snap buttons. In very good to near fine condition, with isolated yellowing and a few areas showing heavy use. Measures approximately 15.75" x 12.5". Accompanied by its original 1999 Christie's and 2005 Julien's auction labels mounted above the bra, as well as photocopies of the Julien's June 4, 2005 "Property from the Estate of Marilyn Monroe and Other Collectors" auction catalog cover, and the listing for Lot 70.

Checks

Two blank checks with "Marilyn Monroe" letterhead, from the collection of Heidi Hanson-Hidrobo. The smaller of the two checks, from the "Irving Trust Company / 57th Street at Madison Avenue / New York," has a patterned green background and is numbered 2537. Measures 6.5" x 2.75". The larger check is from the "City National Bank of Beverly Hills, California." It has a patterned goldenrod background and is numbered 1340.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
