King Kalakaua Signature, PSA/DNA Slabbed & Graded NM-MT 8
A stock card signed in large, graceful, calligraphic style by Kalakaua (1836-1891), the last King of Hawaii between 1874-1891, as "Kalakaua R. / 'Aloha nui oe.'" at center. The "R" of Kalakaua's signature signifies "rex" or "king." The translation of the Hawaiian phrase is less concrete, but its overall meaning is an outpouring of love or blessings. Encapsulated and PSA/DNA graded NM-MT 8. Partial inscriptions, possibly other autographs, are found verso. Lightly toned, else near fine. The king's signature is large, measuring 4" x 1" alone, the card measuring 6.375" x 4." The slab measures 10" x 6.625."
