Description:

Kennedy and Oswald Related Collectible Tie Clips & Charms, an Amazing Group

An interesting group from the period of Kennedy's campaign to the foreshadowing of his death with the Oswald related charm.

A group of 4 memorabilia tie clips and charms related to Kennedy or Oswald. Inclusive of a Kennedy PT109 Campaign charm bracelet, Naval ship tie clips ships, and a scarce S.S. Maasdam charm engraved along the bottom with "S.S Maasdam". Each piece is in a gold toned metal. The tie clips are about 1.5"-2" long each, the S.S. Maasdam charm is 1" long, and the bracelet charm about 1" in diameter and contains Kennedy's name stamped along the outer edge . A superb set of Kennedy/Oswald memorabilia in fine condition. From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.

According to the JFK Presidential Library the PT109 campaign pieces were perhaps Kennedy's most popular campaign item. In an effort to quell public concerns about what some called candidate Kennedy’s "inexperience", the Kennedy campaign sought to publicize his heroic service in the Navy. In addition to the tie clips, thousands of booklets retelling the events of the sinking of PT 109 and Kennedy’s efforts to save his crew in the days that followed were mailed to hundreds of thousands of homes across the country.

The charm from the Maasdam was from the Hollard America Line Ship which brought the Oswalds from Minsk to Texas in 1962. The Line Ship traveled via a route from Rotterdam to Hoboken New Jersey, where they were awaited by Spas Raikin. The Oswald related SS. Maasdam piece and his trip across the Atlantic sea is especially interesting for several reasons. No element in the whole Kennedy investigation was left so unexplored as this voyage. (Marina even had contradicting testimonies regarding the voyage). It is believed that Marina rarely left their cabin during the 9 days aboard, yet it appears that Lee did not stay in his cabin very much. Among other places Oswald visited during the trip was the library, where he wrote several documents. (The famous questionnaire with two totally different sets of answers, are written on Holland America Line stationary).

A unique, scarce set of Kennedy/Oswald collectibles.
