John F Kennedy, Two Prayers Signed by Priest Who Performed Last Rites
Two typed prayers signed by Dr. Oscar Huber, the priest who performed Kennedy's last rites. The first, measuring 6.25" x 3.5", Dallas, dated November 22, 1965. A Dedicatory Prayer given during the Memorial Services held at Holy Trinity Church, two years after Kennedy's death. Signed at the lower margin, "Dr. Oscar L. Huber, C.M."
The second, measuring 8.5" x 5.5", Dallas, dated June 18, 1965. A prayer given at Main and Houston Streets, the "hallowed spot crimsoned by the blood of our late President, John, Fitzgerald Kennedy who was felled here by an assassin's bullet..." Signed at the lower margin, "Dr. Oscar L. Huber, C.M."
Reverend Oscar Lawrence Huber (1895-1975) administered the last rites to President Kennedy at Parkland Hospital and one of the first to publicly declare that the President was dead. The signature on the first prayer is smudged. Minor edge toning. Else, bold signatures. From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.
