[JFK] Nightclub Owner Sherman Billingsley Signed Postcard and Ephemera
A small group of items relating to Sherman Billingsley, owner of New York's famous Stork Club. The club was in business from 1929 to 1965 and catered to New York elites, celebrities, and Hollywood stars. The club also hosted the Kennedys, Roosevelts, and even the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Sherman Billinglsey Autograph Postcard Signed. 1p, measuring 5.5" x 3.25", New York, dated August 10, 1940. Addressed to a William B. Powell, notifying him that the club now has stone crab in stock. The front of the postcard is a painting by John La Gatta. Minor bumping and soiling to corners and edges.
Two Stork Club Business Cards for Sherman Billingsley and his Daughter, Jacqueline. Both measuring 3" x 1.75". Sherman's card advertises Chesterfield Cigarettes, while Jacqueline's advertises Fatima Cigarettes. Light corner bumping.
John F. Kennedy PT Boat Tie Clip. Measuring 1.75" x 0.375", no place, no date. A popular campaign item, in the shape of the PT-109, the boat JFK captained during WWII. The campaign sought to highlight Kennedy's heroic service in the Navy. Engraved "Kennedy" on the front. Inscribed on verso by the original manufacturer "Jolle". Slight rubbing and wear, else very fine.
