Description:

JFK/Marilyn Monroe "Happy Birthday" Rare Ticket

Rare ticket to the Legendary President Kennedy Patron's Birthday Dinner held at The Four Seasons, New York On May 19, 1962. The exclusive dinner was held in conjunction with the iconic event at Madison Square Garden where Marilyn Monroe sang the sultry version of "Happy Birthday Mr. President" to JFK. Afterwards, as an enormous birthday cake was presented to him, President Kennedy came on stage and joked about Monroe's version of the song, saying, "I can now retire from politics after having had 'Happy Birthday' sung to me in such a sweet, wholesome way," alluding to Marilyn's delivery, skintight dress, and image as a sex symbol.

BIOGRAPHY:

Rudolph Stanish was employed as the cook for the brokerage house of Goldman Sachs in New York, cooking the luncheons for their partners and guests from 1936 to 1999. He was also the evening cook for Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon at their New York City home, and when free during the month of August, would cook at their farm in Upperville, Va., for parties that sometimes Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis would attend. The highlight of Rudy's career was when he was to prepare a luncheon for His Royal Highness Prince Charles of England and his Princess Diana. In 1937, while working for the Van Allen family in Newport, R.I., he was asked to prepare a late night meal to serve after an evening of dancing and he came up with the idea of different kinds of omelets, and this idea slowly secured his reputation as The Omelet King. Rudy had the honor and privilege of working with Albert Stockli, chef of the Four Seasons in New York City, preparing the birthday dinner for the late President John F. Kennedy on May 19, 1962, after thousands gathered in Madison Square Garden to hear Marilyn Monroe sing "Happy Birthday" to the president.
