President Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy landed at Houston International Airport, now Hobby Airport, on November 21, 1963. They greeted the crowds gathered there, and Jackie was presented with a bouquet of yellow roses. It was the first time the Kennedys had visited the Alamo City, and the couple spent a few hours touring the city and were greeted by over 100,000 people along the route. Afterwards, the group travelled to Houston, where Kennedy gave two more speeches, and then departed for Dallas.
Cecil William Stoughton (1920-2008) was an American photographer, famous for being President Kennedy's official photographer during his years in the White House. He took over 8,000 photographs of the Kennedy family, both public and private, from the inauguration to the assassination. Stoughton famously took the only photograph ever published of JFK, Bobby Kennedy, and Marilyn Monroe together. He was also the only photographer present on Air Force One when Johnson was sworn in, and captured the iconic image of Johnson flanked by his wife and the still blood-splattered Jackie Kennedy.
