Although undated, this group of twenty letters are no less full of intrigue and insight into the political career and personal life of British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. All are handwritten and signed by Disraeli and are addressed to a wide array of recipients and cover a vast span of topics. 8. Undated, no place. 3pp autograph letter signed "B Disraeli" and addressed to Robert Peel. Marked "Private", Disraeli asks to set up a personal meeting.
A unique snapshot of Disraeli's life during the height of his political career. All of the letters have flattened mail folds. Some have retained their original transmittal envelopes. Varying degrees of soiling, toning, and separations. A few letters have chipping and paper loss at the edges. All of Disraeli's signatures are clear and bold.

Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) was elected to the House of Commons in 1837, serving the constituency of Maidstone. When these letters were written, Disraeli was serving as the Chancellor of the Exchequer, a position he held from July 1866 to February 1868, and as Leader of the Opposition from December 1868 to February 1874. He was elected as Prime Minister from February 1868 to December 1868, and wouldn’t be elected again until 1874.
