George McGovern & Anti-Nixon Campaign Pinbacks & Memorabilia, 100+ Pcs


A colorful collection of over 100 pieces of campaign memorabilia relating to the 1972 presidential campaign of Democratic Party nominee George McGovern. Pieces include pinback buttons, flashers, coattail buttons, lapel pins, and campaign button tabs. Displayed in an aesthetically pleasing montage on a black felt-covered mat measuring 24.375" x 16.5". The lot comes with an optional wooden and glass showcase behind which the mat was originally displayed. There are many gems in this completely unpicked collection waiting to be discovered! Provenance: From the lifelong collection of a Greenwich, Connecticut gentleman.


Numerous special interest groups supporting George McGovern are represented, including women; blacks; veterans; seniors; youth or first time voters; the disabled; and members of the ADA (Americans for Democratic Action) and the NDC (New Democratic Coalition.) In addition, some pieces are tied to local or state elections in New York City, Oregon, and Illinois. Expected wear throughout commensurate with age, else near fine.

- "Lick Dick in '72" button sold for $55 in 2018

- McGovern button featuring peace symbol, similar one sold for $27 in 2011

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.
