A vintage albumen sepia-colored photo depicting five seated and standing men, mostly Union Army officers. The photographic print is framed behind glass. Not examined out of frame. Expected light surface wear including a few wrinkles to the photo, and isolated areas of loss to the frame. Bearing a label verso reading "Americana Collection, Accession # 6718, Property of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette" verso. The overall framed size is 15" x 17.5 x .75". General John Grubb Parke (1827-1900) is shown seated at center, surrounded by four others including General Daniel Tompkins Van Buren (1826-1890) and staff aide-de-camp Theodore Lyman III (1833-1897).

General John G. Parke was a career military officer who saw action in major Civil War campaigns in Maryland, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, and Mississippi. Entrusted with important field commands, Parke also led the Army of the Potomac on several occasions during the Civil War. Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette was a New York City-based investment firm established in 1959 that merged with Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000. The firm's Curatorial Department managed an impressive Americana Collection comprised of paintings, prints, maps, textiles, decorative arts, and antiques; items from the collection had been on display at the firm's headquarters.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
