Description:

[9/11] Archive of 17 World Trade Center & Restaurant Ephemera

A great group of items from the World Trade Center Club, the "Windows on the World" Restaurant, and other attractions and establishments located at the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan. Most date from before the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but there are a few items that were published to commemorate the events and to pay tribute to those who lost their lives. Varying degrees of toning, soiling and wear to all pieces. Overall very fine.

Highlights from the lot include:

1. September 11, 2001 TIME Magazine Special Issue. Measuring 8" x 10.5", circa September 2001. The issue is filled with terrible and unforgettable images from the day. The cover image was photographed by Lyle Owerko.

2. Two World Trade Center Keys. Measuring 2" x 1", numbered 2A1-014771 and 2A1-823056.

3. World Trade Center Brochure. Measuring 4" x 8". With details of the building and a fold out detailed image/map of each side of the deck: North, West, South, and East.

4. Windows on the World Buffet Menu. 2pp of a bifolium, measuring 4.25" x 6.125". A menu for the Grand Buffet Table, with a dessert list printed on the internal pages. The price of the buffet is marked as $13.50 per person.

5. World Trade Center Poster. Small poster, measuring 8" x 10". Produced in 2001 by Scorpio Posters, with numerous facts about the building and its construction.

6. Cellar In The Sky Set Menu. Measuring 7.875" x 7.75", dated December 20, 1989. A New Year menu for the World Trade Center restaurant, inscribed "Happy New Year! Capt Brian 12-30-89."

7. World Trade Center Rental Ad. Measuring 8.5" x 11", undated. An advertisement page for space in the building. Touted as "The World's Most Prestigious Address."

8. PATH Map Guide to New York. Measuring 2.75" x 5" (folded), 11" x 10" when unfolded, circa 1992. A New York map, effective April 26, 1992, with scheduled departures and arrivals to and from the World Trade Center and Newark, Journal Square, and Hoboken.

This is a limited snapshot of the items included in this lot. There are numerous additional items from the "Windows on the World" restaurant, along with additional menus, postcards, maps, photographs, and brochures. As described in the headline, there are 17 total items in the archive, all of which are unique and related to one of America's most tragic days in history. From the collection of Ron Hoskins, assassinologist.

The main dining rooms of the "Windows on the World" restaurant complex were located on the 106th and 107th floors of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, with the "Cellar in the Sky" located within this complex. The building also housed numerous Port Authority offices. The South Tower of the World Trade Center varied from its twin, the North Tower, by having an outdoor observation deck on the roof. There are very few remaining examples of any "Windows on the World", observation deck, or general World Trade Center memorabilia, as both buildings collapsed after the attack.

This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
