5 Piece Benjamin Disraeli ALS Archive, Each Presented Matted, Fantastic Displays

A remarkable archive of five individual autographed letters signed by Benjamin Disraeli, each displayed with prints or engraving and each presented double matted. The five matted letters are separately described below, please see images for additional details and conditions.

1. Superb autograph letter on a black bordered bifolium signed by Benjamin Disraeli as "Beaconsfield". Dated "November 13, 1877". Letter size when folded, approximately 4.25" x 6.5" (by sight), however the bifolium is displayed open, with windows to both the front and back of the mat. Presented with a lovely engraving of Disraeli, double matted together to a completed size of 20" x 11.5".

Written to "Dorothy" (likely Lady Dorothy Nevill), the letter refers to her sending him a copy of "The New Republic", shown in part below:

"My Dear Dorothy

I really...to remember whether I wrote to you or not...you so kindly sent...(and)...safely arrived there - I shall soon see it, for I hope to be home in a few days. Then too, I will make a search for the "New Republic" which they assure me is there...

Beaconsfield"

2. Autograph letter on a bifolium signed by Benjamin Disraeli as "B Disraeli". Dated "July 27, 1864". Letter size when folded, approximately 4.25" x 6.5" (by sight), however the letter is displayed open, with windows to both the front and back of the mat. Presented with a lovely engraving of Disraeli,  double matted together to a completed size of 18.5" x 10.25". Letter near fine with slight smudging of Disraeli's signature.

In part:

"In your accts…on insurance in Royale Exchanges on house at Bath...There is regularly every year (illegible) insurance at his office…£1500. Will you look into this?...

3. Autograph letter signed on a bifolium marked "private" to the top margin. Signed by Benjamin Disraeli as "D". Dated "January 13, 1852". Letter size when folded, approximately 4.5" x 6.5" (by sight), however the bifolium is displayed open, with windows to both the front and back of the mat. Presented double matted with a lovely engraving of Disraeli. Completed size of 21.5" x 13". Letter near fine with large fully intact tear which could neatly be mended.

In part:

"...We shall leave this on Friday, en route to (illegible) + shall be settled the 22nd or 23rd…there will be little time for business when Parliament begins…I think Lord Derby will turn out a better General than the world imagined a few months ago..."

4. Autograph letter signed on a bifolium. Signed by Benjamin Disraeli as "D". Dated "September 19, 1871". Letter size when folded, approximately 4.5" x 6.25" (by sight), displayed open, with windows to both the front and back of the mat . Presented with a lovely engraving of Hughenden Manor, double matted together to a completed size of 18.5" x 12.25". Letter near fine. 

The letter discusses Hughenden Manor. In part:

"...We think the man at the gate can hardly be following out yr instructions...the beauty of the pillars themselves,...concealing the lodge. Its also very doubtful whether the dwellers in the lodge could  observe the approach of the carriage..."

5. Autograph letter on a bifolium. Signed by Benjamin Disraeli as "D". Dated "June 3". Letter size when folded, approximately  4.25" x 6.25" (by sight), displayed open, with windows to both the front and back of the mat, and presented with a lovely print of Disraeli. Presented together double matted to a completed size of 18.5" x 13.5". Letter near fine with intact separation along the center fold.

 In part:

"I have left a packet with you at G.G with Mrs. D...always send a line with the messenger as a check, one may be played a trick someday "sarcasms meager + barren on the staffers" to "sarcasms drear and barren."

All items will ship with signature required, and full insurance. Most items are sent via Federal Express, with P. O. Box addresses being sent through USPS. We insure through Berkley Asset Protection with rates of $.70 per $100 of value, among the lowest insurance rates in the industry. Our shipping department cameras document every package, both outgoing and incoming, for maximum security. In addition, we compare our shipping and handling rates against those of other auction houses, to ensure that our charges are among the lowest in the trade.

Upon winning your item(s), you will receive an invoice with our in-house shipping and handling fees included. ***We will ship to the address as it appears on your invoice, unless you inform us otherwise, immediately upon your receipt of invoice***

International shipments: In order to comply with our insurance provider, all international shipments will be sent via Fed Ex and customs paperwork will show a value of $1.00. International buyers should contact our office directly with any questions regarding this policy.
